"The Perfect Summer Dress"

A light, flowing summer dress — designed and sewn by your child from scratch.

Schedule options:

No payment due — registering just adds you to the Summer 2027 list

Day OneMonday

Orientation & Design Vision

We kick off with a review of current summer trends — each student picks a trend that speaks to them and builds a mini mood board around it. From there, they sketch the garment they'll create during the week. We also introduce the sewing machine: setup, safety, and first stitches.

Day TwoTuesday

Fabric, Pattern & First Stitches

Students choose the right fabric for their design, then draft a professional paper pattern custom-fitted to their own body type and size. We cover how to lay the pattern correctly on fabric and cut it with precision — then pick up the needle and sew their very first stitches of the dress.

Day ThreeWednesday

Sewing & Pressing

A full day of construction — students push to get as much of their dress sewn as possible. We also teach professional iron pressing techniques, showing how pressing at each step makes a garment look polished and well-made.

Day FourThursday

Fitting, Finishing & Embellishment

Each garment is fitted directly on the child — adjustments are made so it sits perfectly on their body. We finish up the sewing and add the personal touches that make each piece unique: ribbons, belts, bows, trims, and any other design details the student envisioned.

Day FiveFriday

Showcase Day

The moment everything has been leading to. Students put their full look together and prepare for the Grand Finale Fashion Show — a real runway event where every camper walks in the garment they designed and made themselves, before an audience of family and friends from both weeks of camp.

Camp Director & Lead Instructor

Yulia Berman

Fashion Designer · Creative Director · New York & Global

Yulia's designs have been worn by millions of people across the United States and around the world. Her collections went into mass production for Macy's, Target, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx — meaning there's a real chance something in your closet right now has her name behind it.

Her career has taken her around the world at the highest level. As Head of Design at Bina Fashions in Delhi, India — a couture house renowned for intricate hand embroideries and the world's finest fabrics — she led a team creating pieces that belonged on the global stage. She then flew to Shanghai as Lead Designer for Zoe and Phoebe, overseeing an entire design team and managing garment production from first sketch to factory floor.

Her runway work has shown at New York Swim Week and in Miami, and she regularly attends fashion weeks across the globe — keeping her finger on exactly where fashion is headed next. She also serves as Creative Director of a Fashion Entertainment TV channel with millions of views a month, shaping how the world of design reaches a global audience.

But what she's most proud of: 300+ students trained — many of whom have gone on to launch their own fashion lines. That's the bar she holds herself to at every camp. Not just a fun week. A week that could change everything.

What Students Go On to Do

The skills — and the confidence — stay with them.

“

I was 26 when I took fashion classes with Yulia. We learned sketching, pattern making, and sewing — and what I remember most is how she made something that felt intimidating feel completely possible. She was endlessly patient, always encouraging, and she had a way of making every student feel like they were capable of more than they thought. That experience built my confidence in a way that stayed with me. These are the sketches I made in her class — I still have them.

What Parents Say

Real Families, Real Results

Hear from parents whose children have learned with Yulia.

★★★★★

"My daughter came home on day one talking non-stop about what she made. By the end of the week she walked the runway in a dress she designed and sewed herself. I cried. Yulia is a gift."

Jessica M. Mom of a 12-year-old · Fairfield, CT
★★★★★

"My son had zero interest in fashion but loved building things. Yulia met him where he was — by day three he was obsessed with patternmaking. He's already asking to come back next summer."

David R. Dad of a 10-year-old · Manhattan, NY
★★★★★

"As someone who works in education, I'm very selective about programs. The structure, the skill progression, the patience Yulia brings — it's a masterclass in how to teach kids. Absolutely worth every penny."

Sandra K. Mom of a 14-year-old · Greenwich, CT
★★★★★

"My daughter is shy and I worried she wouldn't open up. But Yulia has a way of building confidence through the work — by the fashion show my daughter walked that runway like she owned it."

Maria L. Mom of a 9-year-old · Westport, CT
★★★★★

"The best camp decision we ever made. Real techniques, a real instructor with serious industry experience. My daughter wore her dress to her school recital two weeks later."

Priya N. Mom of an 11-year-old · Stamford, CT
★★★★★

"I've watched my daughter go from 'I can't sew' to finishing a full garment in five days. Yulia doesn't just teach fashion — she teaches kids to believe in themselves. That's rare."

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked

Fashion Camp is for kids and teens ages 8–18. No prior sewing or design experience is needed — we start from the very basics and build progressively.

Absolutely. Fashion Camp welcomes all kids and teens ages 8–18, regardless of gender. Fashion and design are for everyone.

Not at all. We welcome complete beginners. The instructor guides each child at their own pace, from threading a needle to operating a sewing machine.

The Grand Finale Fashion Show takes place at our boutique-style studio at 34 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY — date announced soon — and all family and friends are invited. Every camper from both weeks walks the runway in the garment they designed and made themselves. The venue is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and boutiques, with a parking lot right in the back — easy to get to, easy to park, and easy to grab lunch right after. It's a safe, one-of-a-kind setting that makes the whole event feel like a real fashion moment.

Each session is capped at 10 students. Small class sizes are intentional — every child gets hands-on guidance and individualized attention throughout the week.

Camp takes place at 34 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck, NY — a boutique-style studio surrounded by shops, restaurants, and boutiques. There's a parking lot right in the back, it's easy to get to, and the neighborhood is safe and welcoming. The same location hosts the Grand Finale Fashion Show, so families already know exactly where to go.

Camp runs Monday through Friday. Morning session is 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, afternoon session is 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, and full-day session is 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Drop-off is at the start of your session (9:00 AM for morning and full-day, 1:00 PM for afternoon). Pick-up is at the end of your session (1:00 PM for morning, 5:00 PM for afternoon and full-day). The exact address and any parking details will be shared with enrolled families prior to the first day. Please do not drop off early or pick up late without prior arrangement.

Yes. Every session is supervised by Yulia Berman and a dedicated assistant — two instructors for a maximum of 10 students. Your child will never be unsupervised. In case of an emergency, you will be contacted immediately via the phone number provided on your enrollment form.

Yes — tuition is all-inclusive. Sewing machines, all tools, a selection of fabrics, trims, and embellishments are all provided at no extra cost. The only optional expense is if your child would like to bring their own fabrics and materials to personalize their garment further. Budget approximately $30–$60 for personal materials if you choose to purchase them.

Just a packed lunch, a water bottle, and their creativity. All tools and professional equipment are provided. A selection of fabrics and trims is included — students are encouraged to bring or purchase their own fabrics and embellishments to best express their personal style.

A selection of fabrics, trims, and embellishments will be provided. However, we highly recommend that each designer comes with their own materials so their garment truly reflects their personal style. Here's what to look for:

  1. 4 yards of fabric. 100% cotton is recommended, or any woven fabric of medium weight. Avoid chiffon, silk, or stretch fabrics.
  2. Trims & embellishments — ribbons, beads, lace, gemstones, or anything that sparks their creativity.
  3. 3 regular plastic zippers, 16–18 inches.
  4. Thread to match your fabric — cotton thread preferred.

Photo and video release consent is collected during the online enrollment form — you can opt in or out at that time. If you prefer your child not to be photographed, simply uncheck the release box and we will fully respect your wishes.

A missed day is a missed day — we are not able to offer make-up sessions. Each day builds on the previous one, so we encourage full attendance. If your child misses a day, they are welcome to continue from where the group is on the next scheduled day.

Each session is intentionally capped at 10 students, so every child gets hands-on, individual attention. Because spots are limited, registering your interest early for Summer 2027 helps you get first pick of week and schedule.
